Shockbyte alternative
Sydney Minecraft hosting, 28% less than Shockbyte
Same city, same protection, same unlimited slots. You just pay a flat A$4 per GB instead of a list price that is 28% higher.

Both companies are Australian, both host in Sydney and both now bill in Australian dollars, so location and currency are a wash. What is left is the price per GB, which goes our way, and a location dropdown you never have to get right.
We are cheaper at every size
Matched gigabyte for gigabyte, at list price, with no promotional code applied on either side.

Two things the table does not show. On the day we checked, Shockbyte was advertising 30% off recurring on these plans, which brings their 4GB Iron plan to A$15.54 a month for as long as the promotion stands, below our A$16. They also sell a separate Budget range from A$2.76 per GB on what they describe as cost-efficient hardware. If either of those is still on offer when you look, factor it in.

Price per GB of RAM
FadedServers
A$4/GB per month, flat, at every size
Shockbyte
A$5.55/GB per month at list
On a 4GB server that is A$16 against A$22.20 at list price on both sides, about A$74 a year. Our rate does not depend on a promotion staying live.
Choosing a location
FadedServers
Nothing to choose. Every plan is Sydney, Equinix SY5
Shockbyte
One of eight locations, selected at checkout
We host Australian servers for Australian players and that is the whole product. On a host with eight regions the wrong dropdown at checkout puts your server overseas, and moving it afterwards is a support ticket.

What server owners say
Five-star reviews from the HostPicker archive, quoted as written.
“Faded servers offered some of the best prices on VPS and Dedicated servers after comparing to my old host... i have received loads of assistance through their various avenues to get support fast and easy.”
“From Rust, Arma 3 and their VPS services all have outstanding performance no matter how much stress we put on the server. The DDOS protection is great compared to other server hosting companies that I've used in the past.”
“With multiple DDoS attempts towards my server and no downtime, I was surprised at their high quality protection. With excellent DDoS protection, cheap servers and immaculate support, what more could you want?”
“This is by far the best and cheapest hosting in Australia. I've used 3 really big hosting companies over my time - but Faded-Servers is beats them all! There is no lag. The support is really nice and fast.”
“I've been loving the experience ever since. Tickets are answered within minutes and I would recommend this host to anyone that's looking for an Australian Game Hosting provider.”
Before you switch
At list price, yes, on every matched plan size. Our Minecraft plans are A$4 per GB per month. Shockbyte lists A$5.55 per GB on its standard range, about 28% more for the same memory in the same city, or roughly A$74 a year on a 4GB server. When we checked, Shockbyte was also advertising a 30% recurring discount on those plans, which would take them just below our rate while it lasts, and they sell a cheaper Budget range on different hardware. Both of those are disclosed under the price table.
When we are not the right host
If your players are in the US or Europe, host them there. We run one location, Sydney, because that is who we build for. A Shockbyte server in their US or EU region will serve those players better than ours will.
Their refund window is 72 hours, self-serve. Ours is 24 hours. If you want three days to change your mind, that is a real difference.
